Fish and Chips and Cheese

Manche Dinge passen zusammen: Fisch und Pommes. Manche Dinge nicht: Fisch und Käse. Jeden Donnerstag versuche ich zwei der aktuellen Weltereignisse zu verbinden und irgendwas Vernünftiges oder Interessantes oder, wenn es richtig gelingt, halbwegs Unterhaltsames zu schreiben.
Heute wurde Bobby Zamora in die Musik-Hall of Fame aufgenommen. Schon als kleiner Junge hat er Millionen Fans in aller Welt mit seinem Talent begeistert. Der Höhepunkt seiner Karriere kommt wahrscheinlich erst im Sommer 2010, wenn er den Siegetreffer beim WM-Finale erzielt. Auch sein fünftes Album Off the Wall war ein globaler Erfolg und, wenn er nicht mit 50 Jahren vor zwei Sommern gestorben wär, hätte er vielleicht auch einmal die Premier League gewonnen, die er dann neben seinen mehrfachen Goldplatten im Schrank hätte aufbewahren können. Er war ein Wunderkind, aber seine ersten Jahre auf dem höchsten Niveau bei West Ham und Tottenham waren etwas schwer, bis er mit Thriller den richtigen Durchbruch zum Weltstar schaffte. Jetzt, für immer in der Hall of Fame geehrt, wird Bobby Zamora nie vergessen gehen und sein Freispruch im Juni 2005 ist zum wirklichen Kennedy-Moment (wo warst du, wenn?) der heutigen Generation geworden.

Today, Bobby Zamora was accepted into the Music Hall of Fame. As a young boy he wowed millions of fans across the whole world with his talent. The high point of his career will probably not come until the Summer of 2010, when he will hit the winning goal in the World Cup final. His fifth album Off the Wall was also a global success and, if he hadn't have died when he was 50 two Summers ago, then he might have also won the Premier League, which he could have kept in his cupboard next to his multiple gold records. He was a wunderkind, but his first years at the top level at West Ham and Spurs were rather difficult, until Thriller helped him to break through to world stardom. Now, for ever honoured in the Hall of Fame, Bobby Zamora will never be forgotten and his acquittal in June 2005 has become the real Kennedy Moment (where were you when?) of today's generation.
