Advent 3

English translation follows the German text.

Hallo.
Doofe Roboter.
Bis morgen.

Hello.
Faith, love and hope. The three great irrationalities that make people people. Robots can't believe, they can analyse something and come to a conclusion from it. People can believe something without any evidence.
Robots can't love. They can be programmed to find something good (or at least to make as if they'd find it good), if it helps them or if it does something nice, but love is that which loves unconditionally, even if something not very nice has been done or rather completely independent of what's been done. People can love like that. Hope - robots can't hope. They can assess something as probable based on the available information and then behave to put themselves in a position to take advantage of this probable thing should it then happen, but that's not hoping. People can hope for something even if they really do know that it won't happen or that it in all all probability won't happen. But you know what the really cool thing is: in spite of all all probability, sometimes someone wins the lottery. And so the hope stays alive. Silly robots.
See you tomorrow.
