Furchtbar.

Sometimes my trousers slip down a bit. When this happened yesterday though, I thought something must be up. I had a, not tight, but also not not-tight pair of trousers on, and I'd just come through the festive period. And not just any old festive period, but one with the stepparents, who love it when the new stepson indulges himself and puts on weight. So I was puzzled that my trousers should be slipping down under these of all circumstances. I then examined the situation more closely and it turned out that the trousers were actually at the normal height, just the underpants had slipped up a bit. That did explain matters, but still wasn't ideal and I corrected the trousers-underpants-relationship immediately.

Because that's what it's really all about. The fashionable hip hop artist isn't just concerned with the fact that his trousers sit about 8 inches lower than those of non-hiphoppers, but also that his underpants are still to be found up around his waist. He's not interested in showing his bare arse as he could be taken for a punk or even a britpopper, who is trying to protest against something or other. This would thus contradict the whole meaning of his attire.

Similarly, when one is caught in the park on a dark evening with one's "pants around one's ankles", it's not half as incriminating if the underpants are till up where they should be. Anyway, it's been happening to me a lot lately, that my underpants have been slipping up unpleasantly and it's something that I really don't have an explanation for. To combat it, I've simply been pulling them back down, but it's possible that I'm only going to achieve long-term comfort by pulling the trousers up with too. I can't do this though of course, because it would send the trouserleg-sock-relationship right out the window. Nightmare.

  1. I'm looking forward to the blogpost where you run out of other mundanities and have to broach the subject of your anti-nausea pills and that suspect cream...
