Football - the next phase

Hallo. Heute geht's um Fußball. Heute bin ich, glaube ich, in eine neue Phase des Fußballfan-Seins eingetreten, wo ich mich sogar für die dritte Liga zu interessieren vermag. Ich hatte schon früher bemerkt, vor ein paar Jahren schon, dass es ziemlich cool war, dass Leute, die ich als Spieler gekannt hatte, angefangen hatten, auch Trainer zu werden. Dann kommen neue Leute natürlich permanent doch, während manche Evergreens (Ferguson, Giggs etc.) immer noch in denselben Rollen sind. Jetzt aber habe ich gerade gecheckt, dass mit Leeds, Charlton und Norwich ganz oben in der dritten Liga, dass das auch gar nicht so uninteressant ist. Die drei Vereine kenne ich nämlich alle aus der Premier League und ja, es gefällt mir. Langsam fange ich an zu verstehen, wie man ein Leben lang Fußball verfolgen kann. Es wird immer vielschichtiger und interessanter, auf dem Niveau des Individuums sowie dem des Vereins, je länger man guckt. Und ja, es gefällt mir.

Hello. Today it's about footy. Today I think I entered a new phase of footy fandom, where I am even able to be interested in League One. I noticed some time ago, a few years ago now, that it was pretty cool that people who I had known as players had begun becoming managers. Then there are always new players coming through of course, whilst some evergreens (Ferguson, Giggs etc.) are still playing the same old roles. I've now realised though that with Leeds, Charlton and Norwich at the top of League One, that that league needn't be so very uninteresting after all. Because I know the three clubs from their days in the Premier League and yeah, I like it. I'm slowly starting to understand how someone can follow footy for their whole life. It gets more and more multifarious and interesting, at the individual and at the club level, the longer you watch. And yeah, I like it.
